Youth Team Leader

Details: In this position you will lead a team of staff who will assist Youth ages 15 - 18 with developmental disabilities, mental health disorders and some complex behaviours to enrich their quality of life in their homes and communities.

In your role you will: 
· Connect with and develop helping relationships with individuals with disabilities.  
· Act as a strong advocate for individuals in the community. 
· Work effectively as a team with the individual and their support team to help achieve their goals.
· Program creation, implementation and evaluation. 
· Oversee and coordinate all aspects of case management; including support plan development and implementation. 
· Completion of daily documentation. 
· Support and participate in recreation and leisure activities. 
· Perform administrative and cleaning duties relating to the operation of the home.  
· Staff supervision, evaluations and training. 
· Participate in on-going program development

Education:
· One (1) year towards completion of a Degree or Diploma in Disabilities Studies or the Human Services field
· Two (2) years experience working within the Human Services field; plus six (6) months supervisory experience

Training & Clearances (*Available from Family Connections Inc. at no cost to the employee)
Security Clearance Check including the Vulnerable Sector Search (within the last 6 months)
· Children Services Intervention Record Check (within the last 6 months)
· Standard First Aid with CPR
· * Suicide Awareness or Suicide Intervention training
· * Cultural Awareness training
· * Medication administration training
· Valid Class 5 driver’s license, as well as a driver’s abstract (within the last 6 months)
· Auto Insurance, including $1 million third party liability coverage
· Strong english skills is required

Required experience:
· Directly supporting individuals with disabilities PLUS 6 months in a supervisory role: 2 years.
· Strong counselling and behaviour management skills. 
· Experience with Non-violent Crisis Intervention would be an asset. 
· Experience working with youth aged 15-18 in a residential setting is an asset

Salary:
$17.00 to $25.00 Hourly for 40 hours per week depending on education and experience. Medical, vision and dental benefits, Life & Group insurance benefits.

FSCD Community Support Staff

The Community Disability Support Worker is the front-line position of a support team. They work most directly with individuals with disabilities. They are part of a team that ensures individuals have quality of life in areas including: daily living, recreation and leisure and community inclusion.
